Banbury,
Oxfordshire
Site Context
The site is located to the southwest of Banbury which is a historic market town within Cherwell District in Oxfordshire. It is immediately adjacent to the residential area of Bretch Hill on Broughton Road which offers excellent links to Banbury Town Centre (3 km), Banbury Train Station and the M40 to the east.
Proposal
The proposed framework masterplan sets out how the site can deliver up to 58 new homes that respond to the site’s constraints and makes efficient use of a greenfield land. The proposals aim to deliver a high quality, sustainable and sociable new place for people to live in whilst respecting the surrounding context and character of the area.
The masterplan is designed to create a ‘strong sense of place’ that is easy to navigate and forms a natural extension to the existing urban and natural environment. The framework is structured around four development / perimeter blocks that are permeable for walking and cycling, providing natural surveillance for all public areas including streets and open space. The framework is also punctuated by green infrastructure corridors that establish an interlinked network of natural/semi-natural, ecological and amenity spaces on site. New landscape and street tree planting will help mitigate the impact of development on wider views, including views from Crouch Hill.
