Lone Star are delighted to successfully exchange contracts at Lodge Farm, Bicester. The land is a 100 acre (40.4 ha) site, which lies within the administrative boundary of Cherwell District Council.
The opportunity for Bicester to drive the economic ambition of Oxfordshire is already recognised by the Council, whose vision is for the town to continue its success and support its transition to a thriving Garden Town that remains attractive to wider investment. Bicester must therefore increasingly attract major employment development from growing sectors of the economy, including the life science industry.
The development plan, the industrial strategy, the emerging Oxfordshire Plan 2050 and the Local Plan Review, are all focused on place-based growth within Bicester. This is due to a need for Bicester to become ‘more self-sustaining’ which is a result of significant out-commuting from the town to Oxford, London and elsewhere. Therefore, this site is uniquely placed on the edge of the main town in the District and with regards to sustainable modes of travel, as it is located in a high-quality public transport corridor on a strategic road network, walking distance to the Park and Ride and a very regular bus service between Bicester and Oxford.
This site provides an opportunity for large scale growth to the south of Bicester, with accessibility to the A41. Lone Star will promote the land through the emerging Oxfordshire Plan 2050 and the Cherwell Local Plan and we will push forward at the earliest opportunity.
